Whether in academics, sports, or extracurricular activities, pushing the limits comes naturally to Susie. Her hardworking personality inspires those around her to test their own abilities. To some, she might be an overachiever. But Susie knows her efforts and her consistent ability to exceed expectations are her superpowers.

Incredible potential can lead people to accomplish great things. But many stop trying along the way, stumble off the path, by thinking their expectations are unrealistic. With this self-imposed limit, it is easy to see why potential is squandered or goals go unrealized. Susie knows that unrealistic expectations are not limits for her, they are inspiration. Whereas thoughts of an unreachable dream might deter others, for Susie, they have fueled her to accomplish more than she has ever imagined.

“Many people wonder why I put so much unnecessary effort into what I do or why I feel that it’s so important to go beyond expectations. I wonder why many people don’t try to unleash their strengths and see what amazing things they can produce from them.”

Susie is a mixed woman of color, and she realizes this means she must have remarkable achievements in order to be recognized. Her reasons for giving more than her all are not her sex, skin color, heritage, or native language. Susie’s biggest motivations are her dreams and aspirations.

As a second-year GSWW ambassador, Susie is ecstatic to have the opportunity to impact young girls’ mindsets. She knows how powerful the organization is for changing perspectives, knowing your true potential, and believing anyone can “do the same things men [can] do.” Susie now looks at the determined faces of these reborn, powerful girls, and she can see their confidence growing as they attend workshops. As a result, Susie believes these girls have learned their worth, strengths, capabilities, and how to challenge them. Being a part of GSW is a big step in becoming a crucial part of shaping the future for Susie.

“To achieve great things, we must have objectives that people may think are unattainable. In pursuit of these dreams, why not reach your potential and surpass it? Dream big, achieve bigger.”

As a sophomore at Granada High School, Susie enjoys learning about anatomy and physiology. She is fascinated by the world around her! Susie runs cross country, loves listening to music and drawing, and is recharged by walks in nature.
